Heel Pain
Pain in the heel is one of the most frequent injuries we treat at Podiatry Mackay. But while it’s a very common injury, it can have many different causes.
Below we are going to cover the 3 most common causes of heel pain that we treat within the clinic. Keep in mind there are a wide variety of conditions that can affect the heel – it is always best to see your podiatrist for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
Orthotic Friendly Shoes
Do you have orthotics but struggle to find comfortable and stylish shoes to wear them in? We may have a solution for you. Introducing Revere shoes.
When to replace your running shoes?
This is a question we get asked a lot here at Podiatry Mackay. Often our shoes still look in perfect condition on top, so if they “ain’t broke, why fix em”? But once you pull out the insert, add up their mileage or even just turn the shoe over and look at the tread, we start to see a different side to the story.
Melanoma - Can you tell the difference?
Sun related lesions on the feet can be difficult to identify, particularly in the nail and on the sole of your foot. Often cancerous lesions will look like warts, corns, bruises or even just a freckle.
The 3 types of skin cancer that can affect your feet include the following:
Re-lace to ace the best fit!
Often, we have patients present in clinic that struggle with ill fitting footwear, especially when it comes to shoes with laces. Most of the time they either can’t get the shoe tight enough to stop their heel slipping out or can’t get the shoe loose enough to stop their toes from going numb.
If this sounds like you, or someone you know, read on below where we cover our top two re-lacing techniques that address those problems
Archie Thongs
Living in North QLD we are always finding ways to keep ourselves cool. A typical weekend uniform of the north is singlet, shorts and thongs (jandals/flip-flops etc). No one likes having to put their feet into enclosed shoes, especially in the middle of summer.
But what if you have foot pain?
Returning to Exercise
A lot of us start the year motivated to make some changes to our current exercise routine or even start a new activity for the first time. This can often lead to injury or burnout, which is what we don’t want! We have compiled our top 3 tips to keep your new exercise goals on track.
New Year, New Feet!
Are you a new year’s resolution kind of person? Rather than setting an all or nothing resolution to become a foot care master and invest in foot spas, fancy creams etc. we would like to encourage you to incorporate healthy foot behaviours into your every-day life.
Severs Disease
The return to sport for the year is certainly a highlight for a lot of families but it can often also mean the return (but not always) of tired and sore little bodies. If your child has complained of sore heels or appears to be limping after they have been running around or playing sport, they may have a common, age-related heel pain condition called Calcaneal Apophysitis. This condition is better known as Severs Disease.
What is Gait Analysis?
We use a video camera to record your motion and gait for examination. Once the analysis is complete, our technology including Parotec and video analysis allows our podiatrists to have a full picture of how your body functions while you are walking or running.
Socks 101
