Socks 101
You may have notice during your visit that Podiatry Mackay stocks both Injini and Feetures socks. We stock all different kinds of colours, sizes, cuts and each type of sock has different features. However with all of this choice, you may be asking yourself "How do I choose the right pair?" Well we have created a list of 5 points you need to know before purchasing your socks.
1. Who will they suit?
People who get blisters, corns or calluses between the toes, sports people, elderly – anyone and everyone
2. Why Feetures?
Anatomic shape and design
Sock hugs foot = less chance of blisters
Moisture wicking fibres to keep feet dry
2 different types of cushioning available
3. Why Injinji?
Better protection for feet, especially between toes
Allows toes to splay naturally
Greater comfort and use toes better for stability
Durable light and flexible = cool, dry, comfy feet
4. Tips on wearing
Wash socks before wearing. Some people have reported Feetures being a bit slippery if not washed before wearing
Very true to size
The women’s sock is designed for a better fit. If (a female) buying the unisex sock the 4th and 5th does can get a bit big and be ill fitting
5. Which cushioning is best?
People who have lost some cushioning under the balls of their feet may benefit from the extra cushioned sock
It is very much a personal preference
Sometimes too much sock cushioning can make the shoe too tight
The mid weight and trail socks are the most cushioned in the Injinji range, at first try on they can feel a bit funny between the toes, but this will go away
Remember if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask Rebecca or Donald for their advice.
