Gait Assessment

Gait analysis is a crucial part of our initial assessment when a patient presents to us with lower limb pain.

Performed on either our in-house walkway or treadmill, we use a video camera and specially designed insoles (Podosmart and Parotec) to record you walking barefoot and with shoes. This gives us vital information on how your body moves when you are walking or running.

Video is particularly important as it allows us to watch your foot frame by frame, giving us a more accurate idea of how your foot is moving.

Podosmart insoles can be used in most types of footwear to give your podiatrist a comprehensive review of your walking and running patterns. The insoles record data such as foot contact and swing time, pronation & supination angles, stride length and so much more.

Parotec insoles are an in-shoe pressure measurement system that we use to test and re-test treatment protocols. These are placed inside your shoes over insoles highlighting areas of high and low pressure, particularly useful if you suffer from painful corns and calluses.

Once the analysis is complete, the combined results allow our podiatrists to have a full picture of how your body functions while you are walking or running. The information is then used by our podiatrists to build a custom treatment plan, ensuring each patient receives the best results possible.
If you have any further questions about gait analysis or would like to make an appointment, don't hesitate to contact us at Podiatry Mackay on 49 531 233 or click the ‘Book Now’ tab in the top right hand corner of the website.
